Xbox Series X Gear
Microsoft's Xbox Series X arrived with a powerful console and a handful of great accessories. With so many options on the market, our ratings and reviews are designed to make your shopping easier.
Xbox Video Game Consoles
Microsoft has several Xbox consoles available, and it’s worth knowing the difference: the newest and most powerful is the Xbox Series X, a big leap in power over the previous generation, while the less powerful Xbox Series S is still a great console to consider.
The big advantages of the Xbox Series X are true 4K gaming and smooth frame rates up to 120 FPS. Together, 4K high-definition images and the fast 120 FPS frame rate produce astounding visual detail and immersive storytelling. To take advantage of that power, gamers need a television capable of 120 FPS — historically rare, so many TVs still don’t support it (see our TV guide).
The Xbox Series X has built-in backwards compatibility so it can play older games. That can make it tricky to tell an old game from its newer version — look for the X|S logo in the bottom-left corner to confirm you’re playing the optimized release. Pair the console with the right gear above and you’ll get the most out of next-gen audio and video.
